Work Project is a platform for Southwestern self-representation. In Work Project, organizations, museums, researchers, and artists from across the nation will examine representations of the Southwestern borderland pictured in museums, murals, and literature. In emphasizing the region’s legacy of labor, Work Project celebrates individuals for their ethics, effort, and excellence.

Accessible at ourworkproject.org, this archive includes 250 participants across eight states and two countries. Through a gallery wall, articles concerning past and present histories, a literary anthology, featured photographers, a film essay series, cookbook, and seventy-five audio interviews, Work Project presents the hope of individuals across the Southwest.
Rather than recording history by a single author, the archive allowed each individual to write their narrative. While the platform includes Latinx influences, Work Project emphasizes individuals on a local scale. From young artists sharing their work for the first time to an activist who won a Presidential Medal of Freedom, Work Project expands how we both value and define our regional labor.
